Southeast Asia leading off the tourism recovery in the region

After two years of restrictions, Southeast Asian countries are emerging from the pandemic, and gradually reopening their borders to international travellers. Thailand was the first country which initiated the reopening to international tourism back in July 2021, followed by Singapore with its Vaccinated Travel Lanes. Other Southeast Asian countries have followed the move shortly after. Indonesia is taking steps to ease travel protocols by reopening Bali to all tourists, Malaysia announced to fully reopen its borders on April 1st, 2022, while Vietnam is targeting to welcome 5 million international tourists this year.
