WPP SHANGHAI

WPP, the world’s largest advertisement group aspired to bring all its 26 brands into one creative space in Shanghai and to showcase each brand’s distinct character and culture.
Unity in diversity

WPP, the world’s largest advertisement group aspired to bring all its 26 brands, along with their 3,000 employees, into one creative space in Shanghai. But they didn’t want to dilute the uniqueness of these brands. Instead, their goal was to preserve and showcase each brand’s distinct character and culture. As the vision to consolidate required professional handling, they entrusted  JLL with the complex task.

Together in a vertical/ Stairway to collaboration / Steps for open communication

The project needed a unique concept that promised to maintain the distinctiveness of each brand. While bundling individual agencies into one, it was of prime importance to provide employees with an engaging and stimulating work environment. More than that, the design needed to put employees’ needs first and foremost.

So, we designed a ‘vertical village’ with an open staircase that connected seven floors. The connectivity and openness of the space fostered communication among various brands of the group. Moreover, it provided employees with a collaborative atmosphere that facilitated friendly interactions and creative exchanges.

Inviting collaboration / Taking pride in the workplace

The approach resulted in a highly creative and individually branded space, which makes employees proud of their company. Furthermore, the free atmosphere that prevails throughout all floors attracts talent and clients alike. Today, the firm's campus has become the prime destination and a hub for advertising and media.
