Atsushi Takatsuka started his career in the real estate development department at a major construction company. He then joined a large national real estate company where he spent 10 years before joining JLL in 2016. In his previous position, he worked in redevelopment, M&A, brokerage, in addition to other tasks.

At JLL, he is currently working in the Property & Asset Management department, where he manages the Leasing and Engineering department, as well as corporate planning for the entire department.

“To be honest, I didn’t have any problems with my previous companies; I completed large projects successfully, met company expectations, and was promoted at a young age. As a Japanese salaryman, I was doing extremely well.

“However, I started to question the status quo and began to realize that the “company” would end up becoming part of “me,” that is, my individual identity, instead of the other way around. I wanted to regain my individuality and focus on continuing self-growth, which prompted me to join JLL.

“One of the reasons why I choose JLL was its organizational climate. It’s extremely open and flat. This structure makes it possible for me to best utilize my experience and skills and provides me with opportunities to continue developing my trade. I’ve been working here for three years now, and I can say with confidence that JLL’s corporate climate is ideal. With that said, I think that JLL may not be attractive to those that require a manual, or if you’re the type of person that needs to be told what to do.

“With the rapid change and evolution of PropTech, workstyle reform, declining birthrate, etc., we have entered an era of constant change. Some say that the “old fashioned” real estate industry will soon come to an end. JLL is taking this era of constant change as an opportunity to grow and determine new pathways to success. I am looking forward to working with an innovator in the industry!

“When it comes to my days off, I like to enjoy diverse hobbies depending on the weather. If there’s waves, I end up surfing all year round! Recently, I took a holiday and went on a surfing trip to South Taiwan. If it’s the snowy season, I like to head to the mountains to enjoy the powdery snow. Every year, I go on a holiday to Niseko where I can enjoy that region’s snowy landscapes!”
